A Guide to Wooden Climbing Frames
Introduction to wooden climbing frames
There is a large number of timber climbing frames to choose from; different names, types, and sizes and it can be overwhelming choosing the right product for your playground. But do not worry, here at Signet Play we have a short guide to some of the questions you may have and just some of the many wooden climbing frames we can offer.
How long does a wooden climbing frame last?
All our timber used has a minimum 15-year service life specification and any play equipment installed comes with a 10-20-year guarantee depending on which specification you choose. The timber is also sustainably sourced from UK pine or radiata pine. All our timber has a high-pressure treatment process, so peace of mind is assured when buying our wooden climbing frames.
The treatment process is as follows:
• Timber is loaded into a treatment vessel. Initial vacuum is applied and the timber cells are evacuated of air.
• The timber is then flooded under vacuum with TANALITH wood preservative.
• Hydraulic pressure is then applied to force the preservative deep into the cells of the timber.
• Then a final vacuum extracts excess preservative solution.
• Low pressure within the timber then draws in a surface solution when vented into the atmosphere. The treated timber is then left to dry, ready to be installed into a playground.
Thus giving long-lasting life to the play equipment ready to be installed.
What type of climbing frames are there?
